Tasks and the task list
A node becomes a task through a task marker such as TODO in its title or attributes line.
The task list gathers all your tasks, wherever they are in your nodes.
The task list
Tasks (at the top right of the node view) opens the list. Each entry shows the task with its path from the top level; click it to focus the task. The pin button (Pin) keeps the list open beside the focus view (on wide screens); drag its inner edge to change its width.
A task is open or done: tick the box in the list or on the focused node (this writes the done word into its attributes). Done tasks are hidden unless you check done.
The order: urgency
The list is ordered by an urgency score, the most urgent first. It adds up:
- the priority, including the priorities passed down from above (under a square root, so it can't explode),
- the due date: rising as the date comes closer, about as much as
!1on the due day, and growing week by week when overdue, - the age: tasks left lying for a long time slowly rise (after a year as much as
!1).
The small number on each entry is the score; click it to see its parts.
Waiting tasks
A task with a scheduled date ahead (>date) is waiting and hidden; check waiting to see such tasks. A waiting
task shows up anyway when its due date comes close – once the days left are at most twice its effort (duration ×
energy) – so it can't be forgotten.
Energy
My current energy in the list hides the open tasks that require more energy (*N) than you have right now. The
highest level shows all tasks. Whether this level is kept in this browser or for your account (all devices) is a
setting.
Limiting the list
The list can be limited to a context: the tasks of one project or area of life. See Contexts.
