Getting started
PaSiCC keeps everything that matters to you – notes, projects, people, tasks – as nodes connected to each other. Instead of putting a thing into one folder, you connect it to every place it belongs to.
The idea in one minute
- A node has a title, an optional line of attributes (e.g.
TODO !2 <friday) and an optional description. - Nodes are arranged in a hierarchy: a node can have children below it and parents above it – and unlike folders, a node can have several parents. "Paint the door" can be below "Bathroom" and below "Weekend jobs".
- Nodes sharing a parent are siblings.
- Cross-links connect any two nodes beside the hierarchy, e.g. "Tiles" and "Hardware store".
The name says it: Parents, Siblings, Children, Cross-links.
Your first node
- Open Top level (at the top of the node view). Top-level nodes are the ones without a parent – your areas of life or main projects, e.g. "Home", "Work", "Health".
- Type a title and choose Create new (or press Ctrl+Enter). The new node opens in the focus view.
- Below it, under Children, choose + add, type a title and choose Create "…" (or press Ctrl+Enter) to add a child, e.g. "Bathroom" below "Home".
Click any node to focus it. That's all you need to start; everything else can grow over time.
Making something a task
Write a task marker such as TODO into a node's title or its attributes line, e.g. Paint the door TODO !2 <friday.
When creating a node, the attributes typed into its title are moved to its attributes line: the title becomes "Paint
the door", the attributes TODO !2 and the due date. Tasks opens the task list with all your tasks, most urgent
first – see Tasks and the task list.
Where to go next
- Nodes and the focus view: moving around, adding parents, children and cross-links, deleting.
- The attributes line: priorities, dates, durations and energy.
- Contexts: limiting the task list to one project or area of life.
- Sharing and friends: working on nodes together.
