Sharing and friends
Nodes are private until you share them. You share with friends, choosing what they may do.
Friends
Each user has a public handle: the username and a short code, e.g. anna#7KQ2 (in your profile, with a copy
button). To add a friend, enter their handle in the friends list (Profile → Friends list…); they get a request to
accept. Either of you can end the friendship later.
Sharing a node
Share… in the menu (☰) of a node you own shares it with a friend. The share covers the node and everything below it, also nodes added later and nodes that have other parents too.
Permissions
| Permission | May |
|---|---|
| owner | everything: edit, add and remove children, move, delete, share – like their own nodes |
| write | edit title, attributes, description and done, add and remove cross-links |
| plan | change only the priority and the dates |
| read | look only |
A node can have several owners with equal rights. On a node shared with you, an icon at the end of the attributes line shows your permission; pointing at it shows the owners. On your own nodes, an icon shows that others read them without owner rights, and how many.
Inherited access
The share dialog lists the links on the node itself and the access that comes from above (a share on an ancestor), with the node it comes from. Every node keeps at least one owner: removing a share that would leave nodes without an owner is refused.
Leaving a share
Leave share… in the node's menu removes a share given to you. Named contexts are shared and left the same way (see Contexts).
